And interestingly, the genesis of the story did come out of low the low budget world. It actually took me years to realize, you know, I'm a writer, even after what, I didn't realize I was a writer. I never saw myself as a writer that was so interesting. And meanwhile, sort of on the side, I was kind of doing some writing. And but it was kind of like this thankless thing where it wasn't kind of getting to me, getting me to the kind of stories that I wanted to tell.
And, and another genre movie called hired to kill which was dirty dozen with women.īoth are the same producer. I did a gothic horror movie called grandmother's house, which was great. I did a couple of music videos as a director, you know, I was hustling and actually did a couple of low budget features. Got to Hollywood moved out here and did some independent, like, music videos. Just controlling the whole process is particularly post production. That's, that's I was like, I'm gonna direct I'm going to be a director, because I just loved you know, just that whole thing. I love you know, the whole idea of the narrative and, and, and, you know, just the logical archetypes and telling epic stories, all of that got the bug. So I had a light bulb go off in college, I took a film production course. So I so for for everyone listening, how did you get into the business as a writer? So those two very Yeah, I've got stories stories to tell. And I've also you know, produced indie documentaries about a spiritual master. I've written you know, gigantic movies for the Hollywood Studios.
So yeah, I mean, it's, you know, I have existed on both two extremes of the entertainment business. So thank you so much for coming on the show to talk all things Waterworld and your experience writing it and dealing with it and all the stuff that came out of it. And and I'm like, Oh, I gotta get him on the show. I'm like, I can't believe and I'm a fan of the movie actually loved the movie when it came out.
And I was like, Oh my god, he wrote Waterworld. And I was like, Oh, let me just check out what else he's done. I was like, we I think we're gonna do another interview. But we were sitting there and I was so excited about the movie you did with called awake about Yogananda that I really never realized that you were the writer of water was only like, months, or maybe even a year later. I still never forgot that, like, how much is the buffet. And it's so odd because when I first I was so excited to meet you, and we had that lunch that day in that ridiculously expensive Indian restaurant. Oh, man, thank you so much for coming on the show you you've been a, you've been on my other shows, as a documentarian, as a producer as a self distribution guru. I'd like to welcome to the show Peter Rader, man, how are you doing, Peter?
